The DASH Home is a true forever home, designed to accommodate both the current lifestyle of a young family and the future needs of the parents as eventual seniors and empty nesters. The home is located in a traditional suburb where front porches, picture windows, and two-car garages are not so much features as they are values—symbols of happy domesticity and community. Our clients lived a few blocks away from their new address in a 1950s tract home, and while they sought a more accessible and more artful home, they cherished the iconic domestic spaces of middle-class suburbia. The design process embraced the concept of "Our Space," merging the Architect's and Client's ideas. The client, an academic architect, desired a tropical architecture that departed from modern design while maintaining a contemporary feel. Interiors were kept simple, uncluttered, and minimalistic to complement the overall design philosophy. These wooden elements contrast with pastel shades and concrete textures. Walls and ceilings feature polished cement plaster for a cohesive look. Located on Jalobert street in Quebec City, Jalo is built on a vacant lot previously used as a parking lot. Directly on the bike path, this 11-unit condo townhouse project contributes to the densification of the area, offering a mix of large two-storey units and two smaller one-storey units. Ensconced in lush natural surroundings, Los Helechos—named after the ferns on the property— is an oasis of calm in the frenzy of Mexico City. Located in Bosques de Santa Fe, the house is firmly planted in the landscape and has strongly defined volumes. Its large picture windows create delightful ambiences and afford spectacular views.
