Ensconced in lush ferns within the city

Chain + Siman as Architects

Ensconced in lush natural surroundings, Los Helechos—named after the ferns on the property— is an oasis of calm in the frenzy of Mexico City. Located in Bosques de Santa Fe, the house is firmly planted in the landscape and has strongly defined volumes. Its large picture windows create delightful ambiences and afford spectacular views.

The ample interiors articulate the house’s different levels with clean lines and a constant interplay between light, materials and local vegetation. Being a large residence, all bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and closets, with designs that are less utilitarian and more like spas and zones for relaxation, while also benefitting from natural lighting.

The living area and master bedroom are on the second floor, a layout that creates varying levels and heights to produce a pleasant sense of spaciousness as well as panoramic views. Connected by a chimney, this area adjoins a terrace—equipped with a jacuzzi—which expands the interior out toward the exterior.
The main living area as well as the corridors and circulation routes through the house provide views of a carefully curated collection of art works and decoration interwoven with the interior finishes (Saint Thomas marble, rhyolite stone, steel plates and woods of various hues). This combination generates luxurious and deeply textured spaces, in harmony with the surrounding vegetation and views from the property.

Casa Los Helechos is a home that combines modern functionality and sensibility while producing light-filled, texture-rich ambiences; its generous proportions offer luxurious spaces that can open up new aesthetic horizons.
