Teloneio

We were struck by our clients’ unflinching belief in their vision and destiny when they imagined the Teloneio as their second home. They recognised the potential for restoration instantly, while also seeing themselves as custodians of an important historical monument. Following distrust from locals about private restoration of Kardamyli’s landmark and a long approval process, we collaborated with a team of experts over eight years to bring the Teloneio back to life and give it a new purpose. Panagiotis Voumvakis The brief:  Our task was to turn a listed historical building into a modern family home, while simultaneously respecting its place in the local landscape, history and community.   Its location in the po... SiriHaus

The area surrounding the Siri Fort in Delhi is steeped in history. Thought to be nearly a thousand years old, the ruins have been only partially excavated, while the rest of the protected area is a forest full of mature trees. The views are serene and splendid for the handful of properties that overlook the verdant fort. Lining the north side is a row of houses that squarely face the ruins. Abhay Khatri The building is nearly half a century old, and multiple owners have renovated the ground floor several times. On the first visit, it was hard to see whether the building had “good bones” - the floor & ceiling were both on multiple levels, there was stuff piled high in every room, and there was evidence of water damage a... Hotel "Le chevalier bleu"

The bastide of Monpazier, founded in 1284 by will of Edward I, king of England, is classified among the most beautiful villages in France, and has maintained its original appearance and dimensions almost intact, presenting itself to visitors today as an authentic jewel of medieval architecture. The building transformed into a boutique hotel has gone through 8 centuries of history in a continuum of stratifications (noble palace, then bourgeois house, finally hotel), some of which have hidden - and sometimes destroyed - traces of previous eras. ERA - Enrico Realacci Architectures   ERA - Enrico Realacci Architectures Our aim was to bring some of these traces back to light, restoring an identity value to the building but, at... More

Portello Colmarion

The project for the conservative restoration of Portello Colmarion, in Asolo, in the Veneto region, takes place in a landscape context straddling the anthropized part of the city village on one side and the thick vegetation of the hilly forest on the other. The portal, belonging to the medieval walls dating back to the fourteenth century of the city, is positioned in a panoramic hilly area at 379m above sea level which allows you to dominate the plain below, consolidating the meaning that the poet Giosuè Carducci gave to the village: the city of a hundred horizons. Due to the elevated position of the gate, the site has an extraordinary panoramic point of view facing the system of western of Asolo hills and the top of Monte Grappa.... More

Franklin Square

Designed in the late 1980’s by the iconic Philip Johnson, the original Franklin Square embodied the theatrical post-modernist style Johnson gravitated towards in the second-half of his career with twenty-foot-tall fluted columns, marble floors, and bronze grill work canopies. Four decades later, the Hickok Cole design team was tasked with modernizing 30,941 SF of public tenant space to restore Franklin Square’s prominent reputation and street presence, while preserving it’s post-modernist character. Garrett Rowland Garrett Rowland A new double-height entrance creates a direct visual connection to Franklin Square Park—the building’s namesake—across the street with a custom glass wall system supp... GNRS apartment

This generous apartment with incredible views of the Žižkov tower is located in a building from the early 20th century by builder Dr. Ing. Karel Skorkovský. One of the remarkable things about the building is that there is an observatory on its roof. The apartment, which occupies the entire first floor, has an area of 230 m2 and its resident was the builder himself. The space was in a terrible state after a century of use. The aim of the reconstruction was to reconstruct the apartment according to today's standards with the restoration and completion of the original architectural elements that were destroyed in the last century. The investor was a housing cooperative, which wished a sensitive and inexpensive reconstruction so that it... More
