It is a 5-story building built on a 28.4m2 site in the center of Seoul. The name of the building is Column because it looks like a towering pillar. One space is located on each floor. Although it is small in size, it was designed with an independent office building in mind. Design collective TheLoveTriangle has designed and completed its off-grid pavilion in Baabdat, Lebanon. The pavilion aims to provide its members with a space for experimentation, exhibitions and art residencies.The designers aimed to create a peaceful space, a gesture that would not compete with the surrounding landscape and would provide a neutral canvas for the artists and exhibitors.therefore, the design of the pavilion was stripped down to a pure and primitive architectural form – a rectangle of 96 sqm (1033 sqft), discreetly nested in a clearing between the pine trees. The clients - a South African born couple that returned to Cape Town after residing abroad for two decades approached us to design them a permanant residencie that would be entriely in touch with nature, be simple and unique with the emphasis on natural light and space. They were specific with their brief for a home that allowed for maximum sunlight to be captured and filtered throughout the house by the day, invite the unobscured view into their home whilst maintaining maximum privacy. The American Start-up Pharma Company, Slayback required a contemporary, corporate setting that would reflect a lively and happening office space while maintaining formality necessary for its day-to-day functioning. This summer house serves as a yearly retreat for a family that lives internationally. The symbolic center of the Armenian home has always been the traditional stone oven, which was the main principle of the design concept for this home. Inspiration was drawn from traditional vernacular Armenian architecture, in which a tonir, a fire pit used for baking bread, is positioned in the center of the home with a hazarashen, an opening in the roof to admit sunlight and release smoke, placed directly above. The brief was to transform a traditional two-storey Victorian terrace house into a generous, contemporary family home filled with natural light. Local heritage controls prevented alterations to the street facade and front rooms. The original facade was restored, painted white and the rear elevation was opened up and extended The configuration of the floor plan is both cellular and open-plan. While the interior spaces are based on the original independent rooms, the new interventions create a sequence of interconnected areas with distinct qualities. The project is an extensive renovation and addition to a single storey Victorian house on a tight block in North Fitzroy. After living in the house for some years, the clients wanted a warm and relaxed family home and also wanted to accommodate grandparents who visit regularly After demolishing the old additions at the rear of the building, a new volume was built to occupy the full width of the site. The new design contains living, dining, kitchen and a semi-independent bedroom area. This is a flexible space that can be occupied as two separate areas, or as a generously sized family home.
