BODKA house

The story of this single-storey family house began with an architectural study of a neighboring house in 2021, when a young family with two children decided to move to the outskirts of Piešťany. The brief was to design a single-story wooden house that they can construct by themselves. Matej Hakár Matej Hakár Matej Hakár Matej Hakár Matej Hakár Matej Hakár When we first came into contact with the empty plot, we began with organizing the general layout. Our aim was to create a simple single-storey house with a high degree of privacy, that will provide more outdoor living options while offering framed views of the garden scenery. Another goal of our design was to cr... More

House BOAN

This small family house is situated at the end of a street in a newly developed residential district in Bernolákovo. The living arrangement is composed of three distinct structures: the main house, a detached studio, and a garden storage building with an integrated gazebo. Peter Jurkovič Peter Jurkovič Peter Jurkovič Peter Jurkovič The volumes are deliberately rotated in contrast to the orientation of the plot. These varied alignments create richer spatial dynamics. Narrow residual spaces between the house and the fence transform into functional triangular zones—becoming integral parts of the site rather than mere regulatory setbacks—used for vegetable gardening, shaded retreats, or parking. The small... More

Hotel Impozant

Hotels are places where you want to have privacy and at the same time be surrounded by all possible services. Hotel Impozant in Slovakia is a beautiful example of this. It has been closed and extensively renovated over the last two years. Stone, glass, metal and wood. These materials will accompany you throughout the space. The large open spaces of the bar or conference halls with open views of the surrounding countryside alternate with dark corridors and diverse nooks for your privacy. Representative reception and common areas offer the opportunity to meet or just relax. The variability of spaces for different events is solved by mobile walls, which divide the rooms according to current needs. However, the wellness part of the hotel is a... More

Mountain House Mošovce

The family house at the foot of the Veľká Fatra National Park is situated on the border between the built-up area and the built-up area. Folkly, the house is located behind the hummocks, so the whole formation of matter is aimed at preserving the traditional concept of rural appearance. The overall expression of the volume of the house is fragmented by its roof landscape using the types of two gable roofs, which graduate upwards. The material division of the house is largely based on the forms of old warehouse farm buildings, the so-called barns located in the Turiec region.   Unusual is also the concept of layout, in which the entrance part of the house is part of the so-called night part. The house consists of four interconn... More

The Mill Process – a Photographic Essay

Many a time have architectural theoreticians and historians pointed out the ambiguous role of photography in the study of architecture. Particularly the fact that photography has, besides its documentary function, the potential to visually interpret a building and create its own pictorial reality has been mentioned repeatedly. The Photographic Project Mill follows the conversion of a building from the 1960s. It documents both the process of the conversion and the state of the building upon completion. The resulting set of pictures intertwines these two layers of interpretation. The difference between the photographs of the process and those of the result lies in the visual punchlines. The transformation of the building’s architectural f... More
