TAO

I always want to create a space that is "untypical". Commercial projects often require a “typical” space according to the requested business category. This kind of style-oriented design has a symbolic effect that gives us a quick image of the business category, but because of this code, the images that we can perceive is also greatly limited. Therefore, this time, I decided to eliminate symbolic elements as much as possible and create an abstract space relying on texture and volume. Ruijing Photo Ruijing Photo Except for the owner's request to make the entire space darker, we took the initiative in designing and studying with bold volume manipulation that takes advantage of the high ceiling. When you get off the eleva... More

Cloud Echo

"In the darkness of the innermost rooms of these huge buildings, to which sunlight never penetrates, how the gold leaf of a sliding door or screen will pick up a distant glimmer from the garden, then suddenly send fort an ethereal glow, a faint golden light cast into the enveloping darkness. In no other setting is gold quite so painfully beautiful. "(From Junichiro Tanizaki's in praise of shadows) Liu Wei Liu Wei A 45m high observation tower stands in a corner of the commercial development area in Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It was decided to renovate the former observation room into a sushi lounge. An amusement park spreads out and a colorfully shining Ferris wheel is spinning in front of Sushi counter. How to create a calm... More

ONO Sushi restaurant Mantua

The project involves the stylistic renewal and the best redefinition of spaces and routes based on the new needs that arose after the first opening dating back to 2012. The main requirement was the reduction of seats and the return of a more intimate atmosphere and private for the tables. Soft lights and tips aimed at the tables, very dark shades and the use of pure materials such as raw waxed iron and black-stained wood restore intimacy to the environment. Davide Galli Atelier The only note of color is cobalt blue, memory of ancient oriental ceramics, used to highlight the beams and supporting pillars on which the sushi counter covered in milled black-stained wood rests to recall the rhythm of the Makisu (bamboo strip mat used for th... Ha'ne Sushi

The brief for Hane Sushi was simple, just like the design intent - design a fresh, clean, contemporary and simple setting for a new sushi train restaurant in Eaton’s Hill Village. We worked closely with the client to develop a paired back, light and airy aesthetic, quite different from other Sushi Restaurants they had done before. By keeping the material palette and colour selections minimal, we were able to work within the client’s budget. We carefully selected finishes that enhanced moments in the plan, like the warm Tasmanian oak timber frame over the sushi bar, which really works to frame the action going on within the sushi bar, and highlight the food on the sushi train. While the organic nature of the varied coloured blue... More

PAKTA Restaurant

In the Quechua language of Peru Pakta means “union”; in this case the union of two cultures and their respective cuisines . The interior design created by EL EQUIPO CREATIVO emerges from this same idea, considering that Japanese cuisine is the basis of the nikkei gastronomy but wrapped in Peruvian tastes, colours, traditions and ingredients. With this in mind, the basic elements of the restaurant such as the bars, the kitchen and the furniture are designed with a clear reference to the architecture of the traditional Japanese taverns.   An explosion of colours evocative of Peru envelopes the space. This chromatic “second skin” is achieved by use of a direct reference to the Peruvian loom, offering a surprising... More

The Corner

The building is located at the corner of a busy intersection where office towers and lower residential units meet. The small scale of the volume compared to the surrounding buildings invited to create a design simple and in the same time conspicuous. The building just kept the structural elements of the previous construction and its now hosting a bar and restaurant.   The regular volume of the building alternates solid and semi-transparent surfaces aligned with the neighbour delimitation. Only a dark steel box protrudes out to sign the entrance. With a mirrored approach, internally the functions and circulation are arranged around a play of solid boxes and carved out spaces.   The façade design controls the privacy of t... More

Studio Arthur Casas always intends to create a new world within each project, considering users as the center of the experience. Unleash new perceptions, feelings and connections through materiality, lighting, color, and texture is the essence of our design. Tease Me Cafe

The project was to renovate a godown and convert it into a café in the heart of the city of Kottayam and the challenge lay in designing in the cramped, area deficient space flanked by shops on all sides, which also meant that there was no ventilation. The solution pointed towards a material that was wafer-thin, could be used as partitions ensuring optimum space utilisation. The perfect answer rose in the form of using cloth as an incongruous partition that gave privacy, became a comfortable seating and wasalso aesthetically pleasing.   The kitchen was planned to be an open one, inspired from the Sushi bar layout - one with the seats of the diners diverging from the kitchen slab such that both, the serving and conversations with... Under the Sea

Under the Sea is a small sushi bar in the historical center of Saint - Petersburg.    Our clients came to us with idea to make something unusual in visual and construction terms. They had only name of restaurant - Under the Sea and 110 sq.m. space in a historical bulding. It was our starting point.    One of the advantages of the space was its ceiling height, so we decided to use it as visual magnet of the whole space and place some key structure there. This is how the massive wooden structure under the ceiling appeared. This construction consists of more than 40 wooden pieces and refers us to a huge polygonal wave, so visitors sit under metaphorical water. And this is a reference to the restaurant's name - Under the... More

Tori Tori Santa Fe

Tori Tori Santa Fe is the fifth project from the renowned line of Japanese restaurants in Mexico City, this time located on the ground floor of a corporate building in the Santa Fe district.   Inspired by the subtlety and sobrietyof Japanese craft skill, the serene and monochromatic atmosphere emphasizes the scale of the space with two hanging elements made in holm oak. Of monumental size and expression, their texture evokes Samurai armor; above all, the breastplate known in Japanese as dō. One of these elements demarcates the area for "grab and go" food. The larger of the two rises up over the main teppanyaki table as a cylindrical extraction hood, both transformed into lightingobjects that define and delimit, thanks to their scale,... More
