The project could not be more relevant to our times, as it tackles multiple challenges including how to intensify unused infill plots for new homes, how to build adaptably when facing the fast-changing socioeconomic landscapes during the Coronavirus pandemic, and how architects can lead the discussions of more sustainable construction through rigorous research and risk taking. Apartment v131 is located on the top floor of a residential building in Ivan Vazov district at the entrance of South Park in Sofia, Bulgaria. In its original layout, the apartment had 42 sq.m. of living space and 14.4 sq.m. of terraces. Space distribution was quite outdated, so we had to make radical decisions and completely overhaul everything. Material used are all sustainable and they includes Green Blade banana veneer, bamboo flooring and acoustic fibers tiles. Penetrable window frames and sun screening louvers, all dressed with Green Blade create an open living environment incorporated with passive climate controls. Bladeless ceiling fan, food waste digester, and a portable hydroponic farming greenhouse provides a green kitchen environment.  The bathroom, clad in blue glass, is equipped with air drying faucet, vacuum water closet, water saving washing machine and grey water recycling plant in a stylish “green house library” environment.   More

Enexis Netbeheer is one of the 7 energy distribution system operators in the Netherlands. Their main task is to construct and maintain the electricity and gas networks in the Netherlands. In addition, Enexis also handles the distribution of electricity and gas from the stations where it is produced to homes and businesses. Enexis has offices in a number of Dutch cities. They have relocated their office in Breda to a new regional office in Roosendaal.For this new office, Enexis wanted a building that clearly expresses their company culture, identity and work process.
