«Dionysos Seaside Resort» is located at Mylopotas beach in the cycladic island of Ios. The complex, built in the early ‘90s, has a big capacity of rooms, central swimming pool, sports areas and a Bar/ restaurant adjacent to the beach. All the premises are gradually being renovated and upgraded, following a general master plan.

The first step of this ambitious plan was the transformation of 9 typical rooms to junior suites. It is there that the new branding and identity of the business first came to fruition. The two main ideas were the return to typical and recognizable Cycladic images like the dipole of blue-white and the introduction of more natural materials.

The suites are divided into two uneven sections, the white part where the main sleeping and relaxing area is located and the blue, where practical functions like storage and preparation are placed. The division is stark and is only bridged by a continuous line of wooden panels that totally cover the one side of the room. The panels are then transformed to individual objects, such as the desk, the side tables or the corner sofa. All the movable furniture (coffee table, side table, chair, pendant lights) is bamboo structures, materially and visually distinct.

In the following years a second group of rooms and a separate private building were upgraded following the same design principles but with alternative solutions in terms of materiality and decoration. The concept of the master plan was furtherly applied to the bathrroms and the exterior areas creating a cluster of suites with individual swimming pools.
