In late 2020, OAR / OFFICE ABRAMI ROJAS, a recently established architectural firm, received an invitation from an association to undertake a unique project: the creation of Paris’s first space for adapted physical education. The challenge was presented by VIACTI, a non-profit organization committed to promoting accessible physical activity.

Faced with budget constraints, OAR embraced the opportunity to showcase creativity, resulting in a project with both significant social and visual impact. Externally, the playground captures attention through a thoughtful use of materials. The epoxy blue resin floor, mirroring the colours of the association, establishes a unified visual identity. Warmth is infused into the space through birch plywood cladding on walls and custom furnishings, achieving a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Guided by the philosophy of embracing constraints, our design approach led to an interior that surpasses limitations, providing a distinctive yet practical environment.

Beyond serving as a sport facility, this project is a meticulously crafted space that caters to the diverse needs of its users. Our dedication to sustainability is evident in the selection of eco-friendly materials, ensuring every design element contributes to user well-being while minimizing environmental impact. LE TERRAIN exemplifies the effective use of resources and thoughtful design. Positioned as a subtle yet impactful community contribution, it advocates for accessibility to physical activity while adhering to the project’s constraints.
