Located amidst the industrial neighborhood of downtown Dallas, Saaya boasts a lavish ambiance that transcends a traditional dining destination. Conceived as a "clubstaurant"—a transitional restaurant and nightclub—this lounge merges experiential hospitality and a playful refuge from the ordinary. The 9,500-square-foot indoor and outdoor restaurant offers a holistic experience including Middle Eastern/Mediterranean mezze cuisine, tapas, toast-worthy tonics, live entertainment, and karaoke.
Milkshake Concepts tapped 75 Degree Design Studio to transform the former warehouse building into an upscale lounge that would stand out among the popular Dallas F&B scene through its chic exterior. The white stucco exterior embellished with lush greenery immediately sets the tone for the moments of discovery within. Additionally, the design team was tasked with incorporating karaoke in a unique way not currently offered in Dallas; a welcomed challenge for the team. The expansive footprint allowed the designers to delineate distinct zones to cater to diverse preferences and varying atmospheres. Fortunately, due to the small plate menu, the kitchen occupies less than one-third of the floorplan allowing a majority of the space to be used for dining.

As guests enter Saaya, they’re immediately immersed in the luxurious ambiance of an elevated dining room that overlooks a sprawling U-shaped bar and lounge area. Inspired by Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine, the interior exhibits a “spicy neutral” color palette. From the earthy tones of coriander and cinnamon to the vibrant hues of star anise and sumac, each shade was meticulously chosen to weave a tapestry of warmth and sophistication. Layered textures and intricate patterns further enhance the space, creating a captivating experience for patrons. Various seating options from velvet couches to bar stools contribute to the relaxed yet upscale atmosphere. Every piece of furniture chosen, either crafted in Mexico or sourced locally, bears testament to the owner’s commitment to detail. Behind the bar, display shelves are set within arched nooks while whimsical pendant lights illuminate the interior, adding a modern touch to the overall design. The back patio offers an expansive oasis evoking images of serene Middle Eastern gardens adorned with vibrant flora. This outdoor dining space is the result of a former parking lot that was sloped and needed to be leveled. To create a sense of intimacy, the design team incorporated seating under the arcade, an upper level with banquette seating against a waterfall backdrop, and a semi-enclosed space enveloped by lush planters. The patio stands out with large, glass geodesic domes that provide private karaoke party havens for up to 18 guests. Utilizing one-way privacy glass, these domes exude an air of mystery, shielding revelers from prying eyes as they belt out their favorite songs. Each dome is outfitted with a rich burgundy floor, velvet seating and plush stools with plenty of tables to accommodate bottle service. This concept creates a karaoke bar unlike any other in Dallas, setting Saaya apart as a trailblazer against the surrounding clubs.
With the adaptive reuse of the former warehouse, the building team navigated an extensive zoning and civil approvals process which halted construction for a period of time and resulted in an upheaval of the underground plumbing. Overcoming these challenges, the design team crafted a dining and clubbing space that is both opulent and cozy. The meticulous design by 75 Degree Design Studio incorporates a unique blend of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean influences and modern chic aesthetics while offering an immersive experience that appeals to a wide audience. The result is an exotic retreat set against the backdrop of downtown Dallas’ lively nightlife scene.
