Combining Slovenian alpine tradition with contemporary design, the restoration of Milka guesthouse by Studio CAPN offers six new rooms, each with a unique character, alongside a ground floor restaurant and outdoor terrace with views over Alpine Lake Jasna and the Julian Alps.

The basis of the architectural approach was to showcase the quality and timelessness of materials stemming from local Slovenian building traditions. As such, wood, metal, and stone offer an extraordinarily tactile and rich experience throughout the project.

A common thread throughout the design comes from the surrounding landscape. In particular, the interior design palette features tones that change throughout the season, ranging from blueish to green hues of the lake and the surrounding mountains in the summer to warmer tones of yellow, the mustard colours of autumn leaves, and the grey tones of local limestone.
