Patterns, images, landscapes... you can print almost anything on this glass and let your imagination run wild! AGC’s Artlite Digital is a tempered glass on which a geometric or figurative design is printed. The designs can be printed in a wide range of colours and degrees of opacity. The applications are endless and provide excellent opportunities to customise a building, project a specific image, or simply stand out from the crowd. Award-winning architect and designer Alain Berteau has designed a range of eight types of enamelled glass with flexible designs which is much more than just another form of decoration, as it also incorporates many practical features.

How it works Artlite Digital is manufactured using a ‘drop on demand’ digital printing process which makes it possible to use more colours than in traditional silkscreen printing. The printing process uses dots and deposits several layers consecutively. Although each layer covers the glass 100%, it is transparent. Four layers will make the glass opaque although, depending on the colour, opacity can be achieved with only 300% coverage.

The pane thickness is 4 mm to 19 mm. The minimum dimensions of a pane are 300 x 120 mm, and the maximum dimensions 2,400 x 3,700 mm.

Artlite Digital can be assembled into double glazing, with the pattern in the space between the two panes, or used in laminated glass.

Performance Once it has been printed, the glass is toughened, which bakes the enamel paint into the surface of the glass. The design becomes UV-, moisture- and abrasion-resistant.

Artlite Digital can be used in façades, partitions and furniture, as well as doors and other features. We do not advise using Artlite in damp environments such as kitchens or bathrooms, as, although the design is moisture-resistant, permanent humidity may impair quality.

Advantages The main advantage of Artlite Digital is that it offers far more scope for design than traditional silkscreen printing. Whereas geometric and figurative designs are often used in Artlite, any kind of graphic design can be printed onto Artlite Digital. Artlite Digital is also the best choice to achieve effects which use large components and non-repetitive patterns, a process in which silkscreen technology cannot be used. Our Functional Patterns range, designed by award-winning architect and designer Alain Berteau, opens up a whole new world of possibilities in interior decorating. Functional Patterns is more than a traditional decorative glass, as it combines various properties with its discreet, elegant designs. For instance, it can be used in writing surfaces. Several designs can be combined to achieve a specific degree of privacy, and the grid patterns produce an illusion of depth. Textures can also be created and combined with other natural materials.

Artlite Digital is manufactured by AGC Mirodan in Kortrijk, Belgium.
