g2e solar cells integrated in glass panes offer a number of major advantages for architects and interior designers alike. When installed in the façade, the solar cells ideally complement the building structure itself, replacing some or all of the windows or bay windows in these structures without sacrificing any of the light that must be allowed to enter the living space. Thus they are perfectly in keeping with concept of increasingly self-sufficient buildings in terms of energy that are equipped to minimise the ecological footprint of residential building. On the inside, the solar cells function perfectly with diffuse light, providing a certain added value compared with traditional photovoltaic cells. Besides this new use, which has hitherto been impossible to implement with other solar technology types, the encapsulation technique used by g2e means that panels can be manufactured that are transparent and coloured at the same time, capable of incorporating various motifs, colour schemes and logos. Consequently, g2e products constitute active design elements with regard to both energy and appearance and fully satisfy the standards of modern architecture
