Its light beam can be directed to a wide range of angles, dimmed, intensified, broadened and focused. It can even do a little dance for you. All with intuitive and fun hand gestures.
Concept
Fonckel One is a functional showpiece that feels right at home on an office desk, in the living room, next to a bed or in professional areas like a hotel. Fonckel one does not look like any other luminaire, because it is designed differently than any other luminaire. We actually designed the interaction with the light first, and the physical shape afterwards. We started exploring light interactions in collaboration with modern dancers, and created a shape inspired by this process. This resulted in an organic form that has a distinct character. Its smoothly curved surfaces fit the human hand and irresistibly invite touch. Fonckel One’s light behaviour responds instantly and smoothly to human actions, to enhance the feeling of directly shaping, literally manipulating, the light with the hand. We are sure Fonckel One will inspire you to rediscover light and to find new ways to use it in your everyday life.
Technology
Fonckel comes across as simple and straightforward. But behind the scenes, Fonckel uniquely combines numerous advanced technologies, including multi-touch sensing, gesture recognition algorithms and intelligent LED control. Precisely engineered optics ensures a fluent and uniform rendering of light beams. Fonckel One’s back is made of a custom engineered material, equipped with a specially designed easy-to-clean texture, to ensure functionality, practicality and a pleasant feel in use. We are proud of all technology inside, but we do not want to bother anybody with it too much. The main goal of all high tech is to make controlling the light feel simple and intuitive.
