Contrasting with the busy lives of the 21st Century, Leicht's new kitchens for 2011 exude a sense of calm with muted, natural colours and an abundance of wood.

The 2011 Collection from German manufacturer Leicht has introduced new colours - sand grey, lava and arktis (cool, blue tinted white) - which provide a haven in the home after shutting the door on the busy world outside. These new colours provide a timeless quality that will ensure the kitchen lasts for many years.

Wood continues to play an ever increasing role in the kitchen with a new walnut veneer, as well as silver and sweet chestnut, which are both available in matt or gloss. For a more unusual look there is a mountain larch, with a distinctive horizontal grain.

"Floating" islands are as popular as ever with the new Tocco Avance having a generous freestanding cooking and preparation island on an elegant metal cradle to give a greater feeling of space. With access from three sides this island has handleless wall units suspended from the roof, shown here in arktis white, and electrically operated folding doors, making access easy but ensuring the kitchen blends seamlessly into the living space. The added advantage of this new type of ceiling units is that all ducting and cabling is housed above the wall units.

The new Concept 40 Classic FS/Avance FS combines the grid system with the current trend for wood. Copper coloured oak is combined with a matt white to provide a natural look to the kitchen, especially where the white lacquered wall and floor units are used in a wide horizontal arrangement to contrast with the vertical oak units and display shelving.

The desire for the kitchen to be as much for cooking as for living is borne out in the new Orlando Classic FS style. By using many LED lit wall shelf units in a dark brown, which is then combined with mountain larch seating areas and wall units, provides a contemporary kitchen for an open plan house or flat. The tight grain of the mountain larch provides a calm and pleasing feature to the kitchen.

Storage units have been refined with variable wall shelf units from 90-180cm widths and either lift-up or sliding doors. Self closing mechanisms on drawers are standard and there are a huge number of clever drawer and cupboard inserts to ensure a neat and tidy kitchen.

Graham Hopper, Leicht UK Sales Director says: "The natural look of browns, white, magnolias and wood is definitely the look for 2011. The finishes on the Leicht kitchens are original and elegant making them the perfect choice for a contemporary kitchen. With a long history in designing quality kitchens Leicht continues to provide kitchens that are suited to modern homes."
