Kolumba™ by Petersen Tegl is a handmade, long-format facing brick (standard size 528 × 108 × 37 mm) renowned for its rich texture, subtle colour variations, and exceptional craftsmanship. Developed in collaboration with architect Peter Zumthor, it is produced using high-quality natural clay, waterstruck techniques, and slow firing, resulting in a durable and timeless cladding material.
From a sustainability perspective, Kolumba™ offers long service life (often exceeding 100 years), is fully recyclable at end of life, and contributes to thermal mass, helping to regulate indoor temperatures. Petersen Tegl prioritises energy-efficient kilns and uses locally sourced raw materials, reducing transportation and production emissions. The brick's durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic longevity make it a sustainable choice compared to shorter-lived facade materials.
