Self-poweredthermostatic radiator valve – possible through Micropelt thermogenerator
Scientific studies show that controlling rooms individually can reduce heating costs by up to 30%. Until now, however, electric valve actuators were needed that were either connected via a cable or were powered by batteries. Both options have major drawbacks since installing a cable is always highly cost-intensive, and batteries must be replaced regularly.
The energy-autonomous, battery-free iTRVfrom Micropelt makes it possible to equip the numerous radiators in existing buildings, residential and commercial, with a maintenance-free single room control. Without any installation work. The Micropelt thermogeneratorgenerates the required energy for the servodrive and radio electronicsfrom the temperature difference between inlet temperature and ambient air. The system operates autonomously at inlet temperatures as low as 32 C. The Micropelt thermostatic radiator valve demonstrated its functionality in an extensive field test in October/November 2013. It operated reliably even at relatively warm outdoor temperatures and after changing the predefined setpoint values multiple times.
Micropelt thermostatic radiator valve (iTRV) can be easily integrated into a network of EnOcean products. It receives the wireless protocols for the valve position from an EnOcean-enabled room controller or message server andprecisely makes the desired adjustments to the valve opening. The battery-free intelligent thermostatic radiator valve is thus a key product for implementing individual room control as an effective measure for improving energy efficiency–particularly in renovation or modernization projects.
