SilvaSpan nail-laminated timber (NLT) is a precision-engineered mass timber panel made from dimensional lumber oriented on edge and mechanically fastened together. A proprietary manufacturing process uses finger-jointed lumber to create continuous laminations up to 60 feet long, allowing panels to be produced for floors, roofs, and walls in flat or curved configurations. Manufactured off site under controlled conditions, the panels can also be fully coated on all four sides to provide moisture protection during installation.

From a sustainability perspective, SilvaSpan uses a renewable timber resource and its finger-jointing process enables short wood cut-offs to be incorporated into full-length laminations, allowing panels to contain up to 100 percent waste-diverted wood material. The manufacturer also uses locally sourced and waste-diverted wood where possible and positions NLT as a lower-carbon alternative to conventional steel and concrete construction. Off-site manufacture can additionally reduce construction time and associated site activity.

SilvaSpan achieved Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Chain of Custody certification in 2025, certificate SGSNA-SFICOC-942856, and subsequently Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody certification, certificate SGSCH-COC-900206.
