NELSKAMP LIVINGROOF® is a modular green roof system that integrates planting directly into the roof covering. Designed for pitched roofs with slopes between 25° and 50°, the system offers an alternative to conventional roof tiles while creating a living, naturally changing roofscape.
Each module is made from recycled plastic and filled with approximately 8 cm of roof-garden substrate. The elements are supplied fully pre-planted with six to eight varieties of sedum, selected from a range of twelve suitable species. Over time, the vegetation grows across the visible parts of the modules, creating the appearance of a continuous planted roof surface.
Sedum is particularly suited to exposed roof conditions thanks to its ability to retain water in its leaves and withstand varying weather conditions. During flowering periods, the planting also provides a source of food for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
LIVINGROOF® is compatible with NELSKAMP’s FINKENBERGER-PFANNE roof tile and can be used for both newly covered roofs and as an addition to existing roof coverings. The modular approach allows conventional roofing elements and planted modules to be combined around ridges, verges and eaves.
Each planted module measures approximately 42.5 × 33 cm and weighs around 4.3 kg when soil-moist, corresponding to approximately 43 kg/m². Around ten modules are required per square metre. The system is supplied fully planted and ready for installation.
