ROST is a reinterpretation of the bathroom towel warmer and heating panel as an architectural element—an object that extends beyond its functional role to contribute to the spatial experience and visual identity of its environment.
The project originated from the observation of a tree branch: a natural structure capable of achieving maximum performance with minimal material while embodying notions of growth, energy, and life. The design process is based on the abstraction of this concept. Gradually stripped of its natural details and complexity, the branch is reduced to the essence of its movement, resulting in a slender linear gesture that appears as a trace of growth emerging into space.
The design begins with a pure vertical surface. A subtle opening activates the otherwise calm and monolithic plane, allowing a portion of the surface to detach and extend outward. This movement recalls the emergence of a branch from a tree trunk, becoming the defining formal feature of the product. Beyond supporting and drying towels, this element establishes the product’s visual identity and gives it a sculptural presence.
In ROST, warmth is not expressed through exposed technical components but through form itself. The integrated body functions as a heating panel that both dries towels and contributes to the thermal comfort of the space. By merging multiple functions within a refined and minimal volume, the project offers a contemporary interpretation of the relationship between nature and technology.
ROST is an exploration of nature through abstraction—where a branch is distilled into a single line, bringing together warmth, function, and beauty in one continuous gesture.
