The AmBach Cultural Centre in Götzis, Vorarlberg, Austria, is a supra-regional cultural and events centre that has existed in its current form since 2000. The building complex combines a historic clubhouse with a newly constructed cultural and events wing, bringing together a community hall, a theatre and concert hall, event spaces and catering facilities. The range of activities on offer extends from concerts, theatre, opera and musicals, through to exhibitions, readings and balls, right up to conferences and club events. The existing building dates back to a cinema from 1890 and is a listed building. Following a referendum on the future of the event centre, the complex was extended according to plans by the architect Hubert Bischoff from St. Margrethen. The clubhouse, dating from the 1950s, has been refurbished. The building complex, measuring approximately 46 × 50 metres, comprises four event halls with a total of around 1,100 seats. The main hall can accommodate up to 600 visitors. The layout is complemented by a further hall in the clubhouse, a spacious foyer and a separate lecture room. The new building is predominantly a timber structure and features a LINIT©EcoGlass profiled glass façade. Inside, oak wood defines the ambience. The large-scale ‘AMBACH’ lettering on the façade was designed by the Götzner artist Karlheinz Ströhle as a contribution to ‘art in architecture’.
