Anthem Technology Center joins Coda as an innovative Portman design enriching Tech Square in Midtown Atlanta.
John Portman & Associates’ Pierluca Maffey, Principal and VP of Design explains, “The vision for the Anthem Technology Center is the product of a successfully coordinated effort of client aspiration, entrepreneurial spirit, design inspiration and contractor pragmatism.”
Anchor tenant Anthem, developer Portman Holdings, architect John Portman & Associates and contractor DPR worked closely together to create a 21-story, state-of-the-art, build-to-suit office tower that will be a hub for approximately 3,000 multi-disciplinary IT professionals dedicated to creating new capabilities that will enhance the consumer health care experience.
The design focuses on how people interact within the space, and strives to inspire cooperation and creativity by providing large open floor plans.
These elements are linked by a staircase that runs vertically through a series of stacked, double-height spaces that are intended to be used as break out areas for employees and company gatherings. The ground condition at the base of the building continues the emphasis on activity at street level. A 15-foot cantilever implemented along the main facades allows the building envelope to be recessed at street level, creating greater space for sidewalks with the intention to encourage pedestrian circulation along West Peachtree and 4th streets.
John Portman & Associates understands how to design a people-focused office environment in an era where the collaboration and exchange of ideas are the key factors to a successful and balanced work/life experience.
Anthem Technology Center joins 615 South College in Charlotte and Coda at Tech Square in Atlanta as yet another example of the firm’s expertise in original office design for today’s market.
