This 85m2 apartment in São Paulo presents a unique blend of contemporary design and elements from traditional Chinese culture.

The wall between the original kitchen and the living room features a cutout inspired by 'moon gates,' which are circular openings traditionally used in the walls of Chinese gardens, where the circle represents the sky, just as the square represents the earth. On full moon nights, it projects its circular design onto the ground.

This opening was used as a tribute to the owner's Chinese heritage, who wanted to incorporate an element of her culture to give identity to the space without reinforcing stereotypes.

Additionally, wooden panels were used to conceal doors, the entrance door, a shoe cabinet, and a cachepot, contributing to the visual composition and minimalist atmosphere.
