Estúdio Maré, led by architect Lívia Leite, designed a 70 m2 apartment in the Vila Clementino neighborhood, in São Paulo, Brazil, designed for a young woman who wanted small interventions in the space to make it more cozy and comfortable for her and your dog. “The apartment delivered on the floor plan was serious and cold and the client wanted it to be more like her, relaxed and light” comments the architect.
As the client loved decorating with neutral tones such as white, beige, grey, wood and burnt cement, the office departed from this palette to make the environments more welcoming, in addition to changing the countertops in the kitchen and laundry room, which were in black stone for white, leaving everything lighter visually. “We also integrated spaces to expand”, explains Lívia. In the bathroom, the office has a sand-colored wall texture, making the environment that was colder due to the existing countertop and floor more welcoming.
In the kitchen, living room and terrace, the office opted to integrate the environments by removing the balcony door, replacing the worktops and integrating everything through joinery. They hid the laundry room behind the sliding door and all the unwanted mess could stay inside whenever needed. As for the living and dining room, they created very cozy environments starting from the robust sofa and the same texture in sand tone of the bathroom for the dining room. The highlight was the balance sheet, which was an item requested by the client since the first meeting.
In the bedroom and closet, Livia Leite included a hammock on the balcony at the client's request. For the bed and closet area, he prioritized white to make it light and we highlighted the niche inside the closet with the futton to wear shoes in the wood tone.
For the bathroom, the proposal was to work only with the joinery that broke a little of the white and brought comfort with the wood. Leaving the existing coatings delivered by the construction company. “For the guest room and home office, we proposed support joinery for the client who works a lot at home, but even so, we included a bed for occasional visits, in addition, all the joinery and marblework was designed by us exclusively for the project” he concludes Livia Leite.
