Located in Itaim Bibi, this 70 m² apartment from the 1950s was given a new life by Studio Canto Arquitetura. Designed for a young couple and their pet, the originally compartmentalized layout underwent a complete transformation that prioritizes functionality, comfort, and a strong aesthetic identity.
The floor plan was completely reimagined: the integration of the living room, kitchen, and dining area brought more openness, flow, and natural light, turning the apartment into a welcoming, fluid space. The original wooden parquet flooring was restored and became a standout feature, while the façade’s cobogó, once just a structural element, now takes center stage as a charming and character-defining detail.
Despite being a rented property, the residents and owners were aligned on the need for change, which allowed each intervention to be carefully considered. Materials, colors, and lighting were chosen to enhance well-being and the experience of living in the space, creating environments that balance aesthetics and practicality.
In the couple’s bedroom, the goal was to bring warmth and functionality, with furniture that makes everyday life easier without sacrificing style. The home office, in turn, was conceived as a light and inspiring space, ideal for work and study, featuring natural light and decorative accents that reinforce the apartment’s personality.
The décor highlights natural materials, varied textures, and neutral tones, creating a cozy atmosphere that shifts throughout the day with the movement of light. Every detail — from decorative objects to the choice of cushions and throws — was carefully considered to make the apartment inviting and comfortable, reflecting the residents’ lifestyle.
