An interesting renovation that has not cancelled the typological/architectural characteristics of the barn and the Lombard farmhouse. The regeneration of the building sector of the residential nuclei of our cities is an increasingly urgent issue. Having the sensitivity to implement a process such as regeneration is not for everyone. It is much easier to consume new land and build new buildings.
From this concept we see that respectful rebirth and charm characterize this home where within its architectural fabric it follows its own interesting philosophy. Talking about it is the architect Andrea Benedetti who signed the project. "This is my Regeneration, my reuse, my "retrofit" to give the container a new content, a new function: the residential one".
The living area is a large open space, it occupies the space of the agricultural-rural area. The old manor house is now the sleeping area and bathrooms, while the current garden stands on the land of the house of the grandparents of the architect Benedetti. A deep renovation with the recovery of some parts, such as the original wooden trusses, ridge beams and purlins and the wooden roof with terracotta tiles, original, preserved, reused.
In contrast, the new materials, clean, technical, rectified, almost to create two worlds in perfect harmony and dialogue with each other. An essential, minimalist casing, where the light tones of the walls further amplify the brightness of the rooms, especially in the living area characterized by the large windows that block the front of the former barn.
The materiality of porcelain stoneware becomes flooring, cladding but also furniture. The color of the beams and its materiality can be found in the dining table and in the accessories, in the roof of the large master bathroom. Regenerating also means requalifying the energy of the buildings, not only by inserting systems, but also trying to exploit the free contributions of the sun.'
