The Birlasoft Navi Mumbai office, designed and built by Space Matrix, is developed as a workplace system that integrates spatial planning with organisational transformation. The project responds to the need to consolidate operations, improve utilisation, and create a cohesive environment aligned with a renewed brand identity.
The planning strategy is based on a single, expansive floorplate that brings together previously fragmented teams. This consolidation enables improved visibility, accessibility, and cross-functional interaction.
The design is informed by the site’s dual condition, hills on one side and bay views on the other. This is translated into a continuous circulation framework that organises the floorplate as a sequence of connected environments. Movement across this path supports interaction and engagement between teams.
A central zone, The Confluence, anchors the plan. Positioned at the intersection of both wings, it integrates collaboration areas, pantry spaces, and access to outdoor terraces. This shared environment supports informal exchange and collective use.
The arrival space is conceived as an open forum rather than a traditional reception, incorporating flexible seating and meeting areas to support interaction. Additional spaces, including executive dining areas, are designed for multipurpose use, improving overall efficiency.
Distinct spatial identities across the two wings provide orientation and reinforce team belonging, while open ceilings and continuous sightlines enhance visual cohesion.
Material strategies remain consistent, supporting clarity and continuity across the workspace.
The project demonstrates how spatial organisation and experiential planning can improve utilisation, strengthen cultural alignment, and support a more connected workplace environment.
