"Black Bird Nest" is a modular project for a small weekend house in the mountains of the Santa Catarina State, in southern Brazil.

Crafted with a sustainable timber frame and clad in charred wood, its name pays homage to the small crows typical of the region.

The house consists of two trapezoidal modules interconnected by a slender glass corridor. In the first module, you'll find the kitchen and living area, while the second module houses a suite. The corridor hosts a workspace.

We chose timber due to the challenging accessibility of the location, perched atop Morro da Igreja, one of the highest points in southern Brazil.

The surrounding nature is exquisite, and this architecture seamlessly integrates with it. Glass openings connect the occupants to the landscape, while gentle lighting creates a serene atmosphere at night.

This architecture aims to inspire and provide a space for introspection. Users can find peace and serenity here, whether they're reading, stargazing, or listening to the trees' gentle whispers. This modular house invites a profound connection with nature and oneself.
