BOGOTÁ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE - CHAPINERO

BOGOTÁ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE - CHAPINERO

The urban reaction of the scheme celebrates the collective value of the program to the city, opening the ground floor space to the public, with a diagonal pass through the building. The tilted first floor plan generates an interesting/additional dynamic to that of the traditional platform space, while allowing a generous auditorium space below. A contribution to the scheme, in terms of floor area gained, and more profoundly, in generating a symbolic space, cum utility, particular for its locality within the city. The building´s program is separated into two volumes, one for the general public activities and the other for the support spaces. An interstitial space, as an operational crack or "court", encourages the relationship between the two volumes, while providing the entry of natural light and ventilation. The volume´s undulating plywood envelope is inspired on the kinetic art distortion effects. It is held under the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce institutional building´s frame.
