Borboleta is a unique culinary collaboration between chef Katya Plotnikova and Yana Korzun. This author's cuisine restaurant "bistronomy" features an open kitchen, allowing diners to enjoy the cooking process as part of their experience. Sharing emotions and small plates is the essence of their gastronomic concept. The restaurant is also known for pop-up events where the chef offers exclusive dishes not found on the main menu.
Borboleta is ideally located next to the picturesque Jardins do Palácio de Cristal Park. Passers-by are drawn in by the restaurant’s inviting windows, only to discover a secret garden within. The red accent furniture stands out beautifully in the shade of the apple trees. The interior design, created by arch. Mila Titova, revolves around a colour scheme of blue, white, and gold.
The blue pays homage to Porto and its iconic azulejos tiles. Mila, the founder of Lisbon-based architectural studio MT.A, chose chairs from the Czech TON factory, known for their classic Viennese design. Two types of modern dark wood chairs complement the custom tables, which Mila designed with matching wood tones. White marble countertops around the perimeter contrast with the blue walls and gold wall lamp fittings.
Borboleta collaborates with local ceramicists, farmers, and winemakers, whose products are showcased on deep blue shelves within the restaurant. In the main hall, elongated suspended lamps with golden finishes are a focal point, attracting visitors like butterflies to a light. Borboleta is more than a restaurant; it’s a celebration of local craftsmanship and culinary innovation, brought to life through meticulous interior design and a commitment to food quality.
