In the heart of the Boschveld neighbourhood, the post-war parish church complete with sacristy, presbytery and walled court used to stand. In the 1970’s, the nave of the church was demolished and replaced by a community school.
The construction of a new school with community centre freed up the site for residential development. The former presbytery and sacristy is integrated into the plan and, together with two blocks of new houses, forms a new walled courtyard with parking. The apartment building with social housing is seen as the new church and literally has become the highlight of the Boschveld district.
The complex is designed as a whole in a sober masonry architecture with some eye-catching details of bricks masoned on their side. The brick used is a contemporary interpretation of the original brickwork and, in a warm colour tone, ensures that the complex is a new, radiant focal point in the neighbourhood.
