Located in the Tamba neighborhood of Punta Colorada, Uruguay, PC Inhouse brings together two independent residences into a single architectural composition. Conceived as a unified project from its inception, the challenge lay in developing two autonomous units without fragmenting the overall reading of the complex, while preserving a domestic scale and seamlessly integrating into the landscape. The footprint responds directly to both the site conditions and the existing vegetation. In collaboration with JEP Vastgoed and Vink Bouw, Orange Architects designed an urban infill piece between the Insulindestraat and the Hofbogenpark. De Hofberg comprises a residential building with 28 urban townhouses that completes the Spoordriehoek, while an integrated public route creates a connection between the neighborhood and the park. Conceptually, De Hofberg can be read as an intimate, landscaped sloping alley, flanked on both sides by buildings, that naturally bridges the level difference between Insulindestraat and Hofbogenpark. In approaching the design of these terraced houses, our primary objective was to explore how individual "identity" can be established within a repetitive sequence, while maintaining a respectful dialogue with the local streetscape.The Art of Proportion: Deep-set Vertical Windows and Shadow PlayDiverging from the conventional horizontal apertures typical of local townhouses, we have adopted a vertically elongated proportion for the floor-to-ceiling glazing. Coupled with minimalist wall adornments, this creates a striking rhythm of crisp lines and deep-set recesses. The project is located in the heart of the Sancerre wine region, in Chavignol. The owner, a wine producer, entrusted the agency with the design and construction of his family home, conceived as a living space that is both intimate and open to the landscape. The hillside site offers exceptional views of the slopes where the client's vineyards extend. This rich and soothing view guided the design of the spaces from the outset. The current Clair Joie young workers' residence is now outdated. The renovation program includes a complete restructuring of the accommodations, with the repurposing of the space previously used as a cafeteria. All three buildings that make up the residence are being entirely redesigned, both architecturally and technically. Taking advantage of this renovation project, the buildings will also be upgraded from an environmental perspective. For decades, the urban centre of Hohenems was characterised by vacancy and decay, but in recent years has developed into a small town with remarkable qualities thanks to targeted restructuring and redevelopment of individual properties. The building is located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, on an atypical plot created by the early 20th-century opening of Rue Thiers, where a small corner garden once stood. The building comprises 5 residential units totalling 500 m² and two office spaces totalling 1,000 m², for a combined floor area of 1,500 m². The design favors sobriety and dialogue with the existing post-Haussmannian fabric. Over 840,000 people live in the ger districts of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, sprawling districts of gers (traditional felt tents) and self-built houses. Most households use an average 4.1 tons of coal or coke briquettes for heating each winter as temperatures drop below -30°C. A neoclassical house dating from 1875, incorporating decorative elements in the Louis XV style, is now divided into apartments. It has been restored to its original character following a restoration of the roof and walls in accordance with best practice. The four facades were renovated, taking into account the different materials and construction techniques, after a thorough investigation and fruitful discussions with the Architecte des Bâtiments de France.It was decided to apply a lime wash and mineral paint, a traditional process that reveals the relief of the facades. Our work with Detached Accessory Dwelling Units (DADUs) reimagines the traditional single-family lot as a flexible framework for multigenerational living, rental opportunities, and gentle density.
