The project concerns the realization of an extension to the primary school of Bossière including two polyvalent classrooms in periphery of the existing building whose morphological characteristics echo to traditional farms, frequent in the area.
The approach of the project is resolutely geometric underlining site qualities meanwhile offering a reduced connexion with the existing building. Firstly, the circular shape given to the extension offers an important compacity to the volume allowing children to enjoy a large peripherical garden around the building.
Secondly, the unique curved facade opens up the classrooms toward the agricultural panorama surrounding the site. More precisely, the windows have been optimized in order to avoid the need of a lintel. Finally, the circular shape influences also the inner spatial composition by participating to the pedagogical approach in focusing the attention of students on the blackboard.
