Set within Mies van der Rohe’s landmark Toronto-Dominion Centre, the Cadillac Fairview Management Office reinterprets modernist clarity for a contemporary workplace. Designed by IN8 Design in collaboration with Ray Inc., the project balances respect for heritage architecture with forward-looking functionality and sustainability.

The interior planning follows the tower’s original five-foot grid, aligning structure and proportion to create visual order and spatial rhythm. Warm materials, precise detailing, and a restrained palette echo the discipline of modernism while introducing texture, light, and human comfort. The space functions both as a management office and as a working showroom where staff, stakeholders, and visitors experience the brand’s commitment to quality and performance firsthand.

A folding glass partition allows the boardroom and reception to merge or separate, maintaining flexibility without compromising architectural integrity. Support zones, including phone booths, a wellness room, and AV-equipped lounges, expand the workspace into a connected environment that encourages both privacy and collaboration.

The design integrates sustainable materials, efficient systems, and biophilic elements such as a fully irrigated living wall that has become a focal point of daily interaction.

At its heart, a living wall brings the office to life, both biophilic and symbolic. It improves air quality while fostering community and daily interaction; staff have even developed a lighthearted habit of meeting at the plants. Fully irrigated and drained, the wall connects to the café system, becoming a true exchange: oxygen for carbon dioxide, ideas for conversation.

More than a workplace, it’s a reflection of how design can connect heritage, innovation, and human experience in one cohesive vision.
