In the historic center of Burgas, a location cherished by locals for over three decades has been brought back to life with a renewed vision. The new interior project of “Café de Paris” pays homage to the memory-laden charm of the former “Malibu” café, while reinterpreting it with refined contemporary elegance in line with the concept of its new owners.
From the earliest design phases, the architectural studio Think Forward faced the challenge of balancing preservation with renewal. Together with the investors, a conscious decision was made to retain the most authentic features of the past—the distinctive ornamented oak bar and the existing podiums, which define the zoning of the venue. These enduring elements are now complemented by a harmonized color palette: the depth of walnut wood is paired with the lightness of a sophisticated cream tone, creating a delicate canvas for large-scale custom artworks depicting iconic Parisian scenes.
The restored oak bar serves as the central spatial accent, refreshed through a carefully considered new color scheme. Surrounding it, three guest zones emerge—two of them emphasized by decorative tiles with geometric patterns in soft blue shades. The seating concept combines light, upholstered chairs with natural linen curtains and warm, golden pendant lights, offering both comfort and atmosphere.
A distinctive highlight of the project lies in the custom-designed furnishings, developed in collaboration with Protoform Studio and local artisans. These include contrasting dark wooden tables, elegant rotating mirrored panels, and an airy metal partition with concealed installation and integrated lighting. Greenery, another defining element of the interior, is introduced through ceiling planters and lush decorative arrangements. Two olive trees further accentuate a central social zone, gathered around an oval oak table.
The outdoor café area extends the refined French ambiance into the public realm, along the newly reconstructed Burgas street Georgi Kirkov. Here, rattan chairs, marble-top tables, and a climbing rose framing the entrance complete the romantic Parisian character of “Café de Paris.”
