DOCK 5 is a project redefining the identity of an established restaurant located in the port area of Burgas. The concept draws inspiration from the raw industrial character of the Burgas harbor, transformed into a refined interior with meticulous detailing and bespoke elements. The only preserved and further developed feature from the previous space is the decorative wooden ceiling — a wave-like installation reminiscent of the Black Sea’s undulating waters.
The project encompasses the restaurant’s dining area, offering a variety of zones and seating arrangements, while maintaining a cohesive spatial experience whose structure and height evoke the sense of a harbor dock. The atmosphere is enhanced by custom-designed furniture and objects, almost all produced in Bulgaria. The majority of the walls are adorned with wallpaper featuring a large-scale print, inspired by the inevitable corrosion of metal exposed to sea water. Light textile panels, suspended from the decorative ceiling, reference ship sails. Rust-colored curtains made of woven metal mesh evoke the intricate aesthetic of fishing nets. The industrial language extends to handcrafted metal shelving and table bases. The interior narrative is poetically completed by a Bocci lighting fixture, floating through the space like a swarm of glowing jellyfish in the night sea.
