Taylor Kurtz Architecture + Design as Architects

This project represents the Phase 3 of a multi-phased refurbishment of a modest post war “rancher” in North Vancouver. The following principals have guided the design of the proposed renovations: Create a sustainable dwelling that reuses as much of the existing building as possible in order to minimize disposal to landfill; is only as big as is needed with minimum floor area and volume to minimize energy consumption and green house gas emissions; Create a carefully proportioned west coast modern expression in keeping with the traditions developed in North Vancouver by renowned architects Arthur Ericson, Ron Thom and Fred Hollingsworth (A Paisley road resident); Provide a low roof profile that allows neighbouring residents to the North and East to see over and maintain access to south and west light and views.
