A Dialogue Between Steel and Landscape

Project Overview
Located in Jaguariúna, São Paulo, the Casa Haras Patente is an 820-square-meter residence designed as an exercise in structural lightness and environmental integration. The project is defined by three fundamental pillars: the complex topography of the site, a robust residential program for an expanding family, and the strategic use of steel as the primary construction system.

Site and Massing
The 1,000-square-meter plot presented a challenging irregular geometry, featuring a narrow frontage and a four-meter incline toward a preserved forest area. The architectural response was to position the main volume on the widest and highest portion of the lot. This strategic placement not only optimizes the natural slope but also ensures that the primary living spaces are oriented toward the landscape, establishing a continuous visual connection with the greenery.

Structure and Program
The program was designed to accommodate multi-generational living, featuring six suites, integrated social areas, and a focus on permanence. To achieve the desired architectural transparency without compromising the expansive 820m² footprint, a steel structural system was implemented.

The use of approximately 40 tons of steel allowed for significant spans and structural slenderness, which are central to the home's "suspended" aesthetic. This choice was decisive in creating a double-height social core with entirely glazed facades, effectively dissolving the boundaries between the interior and the bucolic surroundings.

Materiality and Atmosphere
The material palette was carefully curated to reinforce the organic relationship with the site. Raw stone and natural wood complement the precision of the steel frame, providing thermal comfort and a sense of "refuge." An elevator ensures accessibility across the different levels of the incline, while the leisure areas are seamlessly integrated into the garden.

The result is a contemporary retreat where engineering and landscape architecture converge. The Casa Haras Patente stands as a precise tectonic gesture, where the structural weight of steel is transformed into an atmosphere of lightness and serenity.
