Casa Avalon is the result of a deep transformation. A house over a decade old reimagined as a living, breathing space that adapts to the lives of its new inhabitants. Located in the Playa Salguero sector of Santa Marta, the renovation was conceived for a family of five, with the goal of creating a home where each member could pursue their passions in a functional, evolving environment. From the outset, the project affirmed one of Tarq Studio’s core beliefs: space is a catalyst for change.
This idea shaped the project’s core concept: to design an interior architecture that fosters connection between people, between activities, and between emotion and space. Flexibility, warmth, and purpose guided the process. The aesthetic was grounded in natural, neutral, and tactile materials, with wood as the leading element. Present in cladding, paneling, lattices, and custom furniture, wood serves as a unifying thread, offering visual continuity and emotional depth.
One of the key challenges was working within the constraints of the original structure, preserving only a few existing walls and the main façade. From there, the interior layout was entirely redefined. The social areas were reorganized, a new outdoor terrace was added, the second-floor bedrooms were expanded, and the ceiling height was raised to enhance spatial perception. A sculptural staircase made from polished Café Pinto marble now connects the two levels, adding a sense of fluidity and understated elegance.
Spatially, the home is configured to blur the boundaries between inside and out. The living room, dining area, and kitchen flow as a continuous gesture, opening directly onto the new garden-terrace. This outdoor space becomes an extension of the social core, featuring a pergola, an additional lounge and dining area, and an integrated grill and kitchen island, turning the garden into a true living hub.
The material palette is warm and restrained: natural woods, noble textiles, marble surfaces, and subtle metallic accents. Color is introduced through art, accessories, and vegetation, adding personality without compromising the overall calmness. Each room reflects the individual passions of the family from a playful study designed for the children to the serene, layered textures of the master bedroom.
Casa Avalon is more than a renovation, it’s a sensitive reinterpretation of family living. A project that transforms the everyday into something meaningful. Here, architecture becomes a living framework where life, time, and space intertwine with intention.
