Brazilizan house from the 1950s emphasizes the harmony between the architectural heritage of the past and today's modern needs
The project by architect Plínio Croce was renovated without losing its originality.
Located in Pacaembu, in the South Zone of São Paulo, the former home of architect Plínio Croce (1921-1984) was renovated by Conrado Ceravolo and became home to the family of the founding partner, João Conrado, together with his wife and two children. From the outset of the work, those responsible adopted the premise of not mischaracterizing the originality of the project.
"Between going back and forth looking for the house, I could see it from the top of another property and I knew it was going to be it!" said João.
Named after the architect's surname, Casa Croce is divided into three floors. The entrance welcomes residents on the middle level - which extends to one floor above and one below - with a living room that includes the living room and TV room. The kitchen was integrated into the dining room by means of a panel with a guillotine door, allowing the space to be isolated from the rest of the house when necessary, which provides flexibility and practicality.
To invite the family around the table, the careful choice of Cremme chairs provides comfort and elegance. What's more, the special touch that promotes a feeling of togetherness is the team shirt that adorns one of the walls, making the piece bring back memories to the Conrado family's new home.
With his wife's home office days in mind, João made some functional changes to the project. The garage was turned into an office and the old parquet flooring was reinstalled in this room, which helped with thermal insulation and made it cozier. Going up to the second floor, one of the three bedrooms has been transformed into a suite with a spacious dressing room, meeting the Conrado family's needs. Outside, an oasis of tranquillity awaits, with a barbecue area and a swimming pool, creating the perfect environment for entertaining and relaxing with the family.
