Set amid mature greenery in Holambra, a 2,000-square-metre property has been redesigned for a new chapter in its family’s life. Led by Studio Roma Arquitetura and Victor Romansini, the renovation preserves the architecture and landscape that have defined the house since the 1980s while introducing contemporary solutions for comfort, leisure and environmental autonomy.
The brief was to create an unpretentious, welcoming country home designed for entertaining. In the main building, the social areas anchor the experience: an industrial-inspired kitchen, gourmet space, bar and integrated living area form the heart of the residence. Expansive glass openings bring the interiors closer to the garden, while climate control allows the spaces to be enjoyed comfortably throughout the year.
The swimming pool surrounding the main structure received new finishes and a heating system. A hot tub and sauna complete the wellness programme, conceived to make the house a destination for rest and gathering. Outdoor furniture was selected for its durability and practicality, supporting the easy-going use of the spaces. A large table made from reforested timber, surrounded by woven chairs, brings a rustic and inviting character to the setting.
In the building dedicated to the bedrooms, the renovation transformed previously underused areas into spaces focused on hospitality. The new layout includes three suites, a living room with a fireplace, a games room and verandas reconfigured for shared meals and leisure. Furniture brought from the family’s former home in Orlando was incorporated into the project, adding an emotional connection between past and present.
Brazilian art and design play a central role in the project’s narrative. Pieces by Roberta Banqueri, Pedro Luna, Studio De La Cruz, Marcus Camargo and É Pedra Ateliê sit alongside works by Alfredo Volpi, Francisco Rebolo, Jaime Prades, Luiz Hermano and Christina Baker. Objects sourced from Dpot Objetos and Botteh rugs add texture and visual depth to the interiors.
Upgrading the infrastructure was one of the renovation’s central challenges. The electrical and plumbing systems were rebuilt to accommodate automation, an automatic transfer switch and generators. Photovoltaic panels and an on-site water-treatment system contribute to the property’s self-sufficient, off-grid operation.
These measures earned the Farmhouse Project the GBC LIFE for Interiors certification from the Green Building Council Brasil. The recognition reflects the use of natural light, integration with the existing landscape, the reuse of family furniture, reforested timber and objects made from recycled plastic.
