Inserted in the natural landscape between the hills of Marco de Canaveses, there is a house called Casa do Esconderijo. It is a pre-existing house, which opens onto the river and needs to be converted into tourist accommodation. For this, it was necessary to think about a construction and expansion project. With the aim of introducing contemporary expression into new architecture, preserving the traditional appearance of local buildings, it was thought to oppose two architectural languages and create a direct relationship between the old and the new.
Thus, the project is done in such a way that the existing part of the house maintains its traditional architectural language, characterized by its traditional materials, namely the perpiano yellow granite. On the lower floor, it will have a modern character, enhanced by the large glass spans facing the Douro River.
