An ancient residence, in the heart of the village of Arquà Petrarca on the Euganean Hills, has been the subject of an intervention signed by Parisotto + Formenton Architetti that combines a contemporary language with respect for the historical context. The typical approach of the duo of architects with offices in Padua and Milan starts from the analysis of the place, from the study of the views, from reflections on the materials to give birth to a design that injects a time-less style on spaces already rich in history. The historic building, formerly a rural residence, overlooks the valley and enjoys a privileged position and an extraordinary panorama. From these considerations derives the redistribution of the internal layout that relocates the main rooms to connect the inside and outside and let the rooms enjoy the beautiful view, cut out and framed by the windows.
The windows externally equipped with the typical Venetian shutters in green wood give a coun-try house look, where traditional elements are juxtaposed with contemporary details such as the Corten balustrade of the small terrace on the ground floor or the external flooring in washed concrete. The staircase that connects the three levels has also been relocated to the best position considering the new distribution layout. Some characteristic elements of the origi-nal building such as the exposed stone walls or the arches that overlook the terrace towards the valley have been preserved and dialogue with more contemporary finishes such as the textured plaster that covers the rooms, the walnut travertine of the master bathroom…
The interior design is characterized by iconic pieces of the family company, True Design contami-nated with a selection of contemporary pieces such as the large Drop lamp by Time&Style over the dining table with a calibrated mix of fabrics and colors that together give warmth and intimacy to the space. The main objective of the project was to create a home designed around the panorama it overlooks and within the historic shell of the walls that welcome it, which meet a contemporary and timeless language.
