This holiday residence is located inside an ancient rural house recently restored and located just outside the town of Cortina d' Ampezzo - in the heart of the Belluno Dolomites, a UNESCO heritage site - in a privileged position for the view towards the surrounding peaks and the proximity to the pine forest that grows near the building.

The “ciasa”, as per local tradition, provided residential rooms towards the south while the northern part was used as a barn and stables. This apartment was created partly in this northern portion which also housed the rural storage rooms and which in the reconversion of the complex were converted into residential use.

The interiors of the apartment – which is made up of two levels – stems from the desire to create a warm and welcoming mountain atmosphere through the well-balanced juxtaposition of traditional reminiscences and a contemporary language where the exaltation of the genius loci meets a timeless taste.

The materials used are the result of a choice aimed at enhancing and updating the local character of the architecture that pays homage to the Alpine rural residences typical of the Dolomite context. The walls are partly finished with plasters based on natural earths and pigments by Matteo Brioni with portions and partly cladded in wood; the floors are made of antiqued and planed oak. The interior design is characterized by products from different companies with contemporary and vintage pieces of Italian and Nordic design, with a balanced mix of fabrics and colors that together give warmth and intimacy to the space.

The main objective of the project was the creation of a home designed around the family, with atmospheres marked by warmth and hospitality where the mountain mood meets a contemporary and timeless language.
