In a historic building in the center of Catanzaro, a former office space has been transformed into a private apartment through a deep, comprehensive renovation. The original load-bearing beams—now integrated into the hallway wall—alongside the existing window placements, guided the creation of a new, fluid layout defined by a continuous, light-filled space with dual exposure.

At the entrance, an organic-shaped screen shields the dining area, keeping the table tucked away from immediate view. Beyond this partition, the kitchen pairs the warm tones of thermo-treated oak and ceramic countertops with the vibrant accent of Yolk: a custom-designed, freestanding dish drying rack created to break free from traditional upper cabinets. Here, the living room's hardwood flooring seamlessly transitions into a checkerboard pattern of white and orange tiles—a interplay of textures and colors that offers a contemporary nod to the region's rustic architecture, rooted in the client's personal memories.

In the living room, aligned along the axis connecting the two main windows, a suede sofa dialogues with a custom-built vitrine and TV unit. These two volumes echo the same careful focus on geometry and proportion that runs throughout the entire project.

The corridor serves as a transition to the sleeping quarters, conceived as a domestic art gallery where curated artworks are highlighted by dedicated spotlights.

Here, the atmosphere becomes more intimate and serene. In the master bedroom, an amaranth bed and red nightstands from the riformae collection pop against a neutral backdrop, while the en-suite bathroom plays on the contrast between light-colored tiling and the deep green shower surfaces. A walk-through closet at the end of the hallway acts as a seamless link between these two spaces. Positioned at the center of the plan, doors lead to the guest bathroom and a second bedroom, where a long blue wardrobe balances the vibrant art prints mounted on the headboard wall. The guest bathroom embraces its irregular footprint, pairing a timber lintel with a striking wall composition of green, yellow, and black tiles that anchor the room's distinct identity.
