Casa Sollidi, located on the Calabrian Ionian coast, draws inspiration from Scandinavian design while remaining true to its Mediterranean roots.

The first challenge we faced was the existing flooring, which prompted us to seek a calm, orderly style. As often happens, the house itself "spoke" to us, suggesting oak as the project's defining material.

The apartment entrance opens into a unified space where the living room and kitchen share a 35-square-meter area.

The kitchen is the true focal point of the room, thanks to both its position and its scale. Extending to the full height of the wall facing the entrance, it houses tall cabinetry and appliances. This layout allowed us to position the work surface to the right, thereby softening the visual impact upon entering the space.

Another challenge was the guest bathroom's direct access from the living area. Knowing that invasive structural work was not an option, we chose—as we often do—to turn a limitation into an asset: rather than trying to hide the doorway, we highlighted it. We designed a full-height wall paneling system featuring a flush-mounted door, finished in a monochrome lacquer inspired by walnut tones and accented with a gold handle.

The dining table fits harmoniously into every view of the room; its rounded lines and use of oak—a material echoed in the chairs—allow the ensemble to blend in unobtrusively. A pendant light with airy, floating lines crowns the space, creating the perfect atmosphere.

Behind the white sofa—positioned facing the full-height TV wall—we encountered an awkward recess leading to the balcony, a feature further complicated by the presence of an air-conditioning unit.
