Casa Murs

The house is located in the exclusive and quiet neighborhood of Pedralbes in Barcelona. It offers excellent views of the city, Montjuïc Mountain, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Accessed on foot from the northern end, an aromatic garden leads you to the main entrance situated on the ground floor. Inside, the central courtyard creates a landscaped area that connects the three floors and is bathed in natural light from above.

The first floor, with a wooden façade and full-height openings, is supported by a Neoplastic arrangement of stone walls, which makes the ground floor a large porch. It can be left open due to the design of the large sliding glass panels. The layering caused by the change in materials between the different levels allows the ground floor to seemingly disappear, giving the impression that the house, as if it were a single-story building, rests on these stone walls. The walls extend towards the garden, abandoning the conventional system of partition walls, creating a sequence of views and unique relationships between the different spaces. The walls lose their enclosing character, becoming supports for the upper floor and allowing these intense relationships at the ground floor level.

The planters located within the ground floor interior spaces accentuate this sensation of permeability among the different spaces, all related to the same level as the garden.
