STUDIO SHOO, led by interior designer Shushana Khachatrian, has designed the interior of Cheese Farm, a family restaurant near Republic Square in Yerevan. The restaurant, known for its in-house cheese production and wood-fired dishes, now features a welcoming space inspired by the warm tones of milk, clay jugs, the green colour of grass and Yerevan’s modernist architecture.
“I wanted the space to reflect the warmth and cosiness of handmade cheese while celebrating Yerevan’s history and culture,” says Khachatrian. “At the same time, the goal was to incorporate elements inspired by the patterns found in Yerevan’s architecture, as it is important to me that guests have the opportunity to experience the history and culture of the country where the project is located.”

The interior is created in soothing hues of ochre, beige, and green, complemented by natural wood and brass accents, creates a tranquil atmosphere. The design concept also features round tables for friends and family gatherings, French sofas with adjustable table arrangements, and an oval table at the entryway with a built-in tree. Minimalistic decorative lamps made of porcelain dangle from the high ceiling, providing warm and accent illumination.

"I love incorporating handcrafted features and working with local artisans. The wall sculpture was made in partnership with a local sculptor. I made a sketch using traditional Armenian shapes: a circle representing harmony and order in the world, and leaves reflecting growth, fertility, and vital energy." adds Shushana.
Cheese Farm offers guests an immersive experience that combines culinary artistry with local craftsmanship.
