Renovation Interior Design | Eclectic Vintage | A Day-to-Night Café Experience.
Cinco Café is a renovation of an existing café space, reimagined to create a more intentional, atmospheric, and adaptable environment. Rather than focusing solely on visual transformation, the design explores how a café can evolve throughout the day—supporting different behaviors, moods, and patterns of use.
The project was conceived as a day-to-night spatial experience, where each area responds to shifting rhythms: quick morning coffee, relaxed midday meetings, and intimate evening gatherings. The goal was to create a space that remains cohesive in identity while naturally adapting to different moments of the day.
Inspired by the name “Cinco” (Spanish for five)
The concept translates the idea of “five” into a spatial narrative—five moments in time and five sensory impressions. Together, these layers form a warm, eclectic atmosphere that feels both familiar and distinctive, offering a comforting retreat for travelers and local visitors alike.
Design Challenge
The existing café had strong potential but lacked a clear spatial structure and a cohesive atmosphere. As the venue serves different functions throughout the day, the primary challenge was to redesign the interior so that it could accommodate multiple modes of use without feeling fragmented.
The design therefore needed to support three key temporal conditions:
Morning: bright, energetic, and efficient for quick visits
Midday: flexible and comfortable for meetings, casual dining, and longer stays
Evening: warmer and more intimate for relaxed conversations and dining
The solution focused on creating a unified spatial language that could subtly shift in mood over time through zoning, lighting, and material atmosphere.
Concept: A Journey Through Time
The design of Cinco Café is guided by a simple principle: time shapes spatial experience.
From early morning to late evening, the interior unfolds as a sequence of atmospheric transitions. These shifts are expressed through zoning strategies, layered lighting, material contrasts, and changes in spatial intimacy.
The aesthetic language blends two complementary influences:
European vintage character, expressed through aged textures, nostalgic details, and warm tonal palettes
Middle Eastern-inspired elegance, introduced through ornamental accents, layered ambience, and a sense of spatial intimacy
Together, these references form an Eclectic Vintage identity, where contrasts are carefully balanced to create a space that feels welcoming, soulful, and lived-in.
Zoning & Spatial Planning
To support daily rhythms and diverse patterns of use, the layout was reorganized into a series of clearly defined zones connected by a fluid circulation path.
Zones for Different Times of Day
Outdoor seating provides an active edge facing the street, suitable for quick stops and casual coffee.
Entrance and main café zone supports high turnover and vibrant daytime activity.
Transition seating areas offer flexibility for longer stays and varied group sizes.
Semi-private and private seating create quieter environments for evening dining and intimate conversations.
Circulation and Operational Flow
A key aspect of the renovation was improving circulation for both guests and staff.The spatial layout ensures that:
guest movement feels intuitive and relaxed
staff circulation remains efficient and discreet
This separation reduces cross-traffic, improves service flow, and enhances comfort across all seating areas.
Spatial Narrative: Five Moments of the Day
The concept of “Cinco” unfolds through five atmospheric moments that shape the experience of the café:
Dawn — light, fresh, and welcoming
Morning — energetic, social, and efficient
Noon — calm, flexible, and comfortable for longer stays
Evening — warmer, softer, and more relaxed
Night — intimate, quiet, and private
Through these gradual shifts, the café maintains a consistent identity while allowing the atmosphere to evolve naturally throughout the day.
The result is a space that feels alive over time—a café where the experience changes with the rhythm of the day while remaining rooted in a cohesive design language.
