Commune Work & Live

Commune Work & Live

A co-working and co-living hub for the creative community in Siem Reap

Commune Work & Live occupies a dual-programme brief within Rose Apple Square, Siem Reap. Designed in partnership with Urban Living Solutions, the project brings together a co-working facility and a co-living component within approximately 2,000 square meters and a single address. Both programmes are guided by the same principles: collaboration, focus, connection, and contemplation.

Commune Work is organised to support a range of working modes across one building. The layout moves from informal lounge seating and open-plan areas at entry level through semi-enclosed zones for concentrated work and upward to dedicated spaces for events, lectures, and performance. A commissioned mural anchors the central atrium staircase, connecting levels while referencing Siem Reap's cultural context. Terracotta and earth tones run through materials and furnishings, establishing a warm environment that does not draw a sharp boundary between productive and social activity.

The programme includes open coworking areas, meeting rooms, small private offices, lecture halls, a 150-person theatre, a library, and a cafe distributed across multiple levels.

Glazed balustrades and an open atrium maintain visual connection between floors, keeping activity across the building visible. Timber, exposed concrete, and perforated screens define zones without relying on applied graphics or signage to do so.

Commune Live focuses on the shared spaces that structure daily life for residents. The fully equipped kitchen, large dining area, and shared lounge are positioned as social anchors rather than secondary amenities.

Timber cabinetry, woven pendants, and layered shelving create a setting that references domestic comfort. Residents share meals, spend time in common areas, and move through a sequence that keeps communal life accessible before retreating to their private rooms.

Together, Commune Work & Live form a compact neighbourhood within Rose Apple Square, accommodating work, living, and community in a single address. The project serves entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals in Siem Reap seeking a flexible base that supports both productivity and daily life.
